When it comes to American icons, the milk glands of homo sapien females rank right up there with erectile dysfunction and the Super Bowl.
However…
Few, if any American males, have a clue as to the reason for their strong interest in the size of a woman’s breasts.
Nor are they aware of the powerful role female breasts have played in cultures dating all the way back to the Ice Age some 30,000 years ago (see Venus of Willendorf).
The latest current theories suggest the dynamics of male's attraction to female milk glands are the result of nature over nurture via a combination of:
(1) Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (Procreation)
(2) Evolution (Big boobs good for babies)
Certainly this thesis gains support given that males among the higher apes are virtually indifferent to the milk glands of their female counterparts.
But as to why millions of homo sapien females feel the need to undergo both the considerable cost and physical pain involved in the surgical enlargement of their mammary glands….?
Personally, my bet is we’re probably talking acculturation here.

Here's why my computer is dumber than my cell phone...
First, while I am on Central Time while visiting my daughter in Minnesota, my computer – unlike my cell phone – remains locked on Eastern Standard Time where the device normally resides in South Florida.
In other words, while my cell phone always seems to know where it is, my computer hasn’t a clue.
Then, for reasons I’m unable to fathom,-- each time I check my ATT email -- my computer insists on providing me with the current weather in Sunnyvale, California where it is currently 55 degrees while the temp here in Minnesota is in the low 20’s.
All of which is clearly some kind of metaphor for life in the 21st century.
